UrbanRegen

UrbanRegen is a housing project aimed towards creating affordable living spaces for people within the urban sector of downtown Winnipeg. The aim of the UrbanRegen Project is to regenerate a once liveable and affordable area where people gathered and shared memories before the boom of suburban neighbourhoods were created. This drove families that once lived downtown to the new suburban divisions in cities where people were promised a better return on their investment.

With the increase and awareness of climate change, building something that was also environmentally friendly and self-efficient was at top priority for the UrbanRegen project. The housing project uses an app that is designed solely for housing complexes allowing households to view current usages such as power, water, and CO2 emissions. The app also allows people to access different shared spaces with the virtual access card, letting parents control who can access what rooms.
